Tangerine Children's Apparel

The designer was asked by Brooks and Parsons Inc. to design a new specialty store for the company. Working with the marketing consultant, the designer has determined that a children's specialty retail store, will be more profitable inside the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall in downtown Scottsdale, Arizona. 


Brooks and Parsons Inc. will be doing business as Tangerine Children's Apparel and the boutique will carry children's clothing and shoes ages 5 to 10. Being located in a corner cap of the mall, the lease space will contain 50% glass and a total of 1,020 square feet. The windows at the front of the retail space are designed to entice customers to enter with playful displays and an obstructed view of new merchandise inside.

The designer has chosen to incorporate materials and design aesthetics that follow suite with other high- end boutiques located inside the mall. A palette of bright orange and green, with accents of deeper shades of red, yellow, and blue was chosen for the space. Fun and educational wallcoverings and furniture will also be used to stimulate and excite the minds of children who enter the boutique with their parents. Custom displays, clothing and shoe racks will also be used throughout in a dark cherry veneer to create a sense of sophistication.

Turquoise Bar & Restaurant

Turquoise is a bar and restaurant that takes its inspiration from the western building in which it is situated, and the turquoise jewelry made by Native Americans. The interior furnishings and light fixtures are contemporary in style and the finishes are western in feel and color palette. Rock veneer covers the existing columns, refurbished sliding barn doors are used as the entrance for the private dining rooms. A mixture of turquoise, red and wood mosaic tiles will be used throughout the space to complete the look. The main dining area has the capacity to seat 48, at different table sizes, so the occasional needed six top can be created. The bar can accommodate 24 with room to spill over into the lounge area as well. Smokehouse Bistro is an upscale dining experience for customers and employees alike. Smokehouse Bistro will serve gourmet burgers, comfort food, and a premium selection of fine wines. Customers from the surrounding businesses, university campus, and families from the Phoenix Metro area will be attracted to and enjoying this restaurant. The Executive Chef has decided to serve lunch and dinner with optimal experiences for business lunches, special occasions, and private functions. Soundproof glass, wall mounted wine storage racks, and minimal service stations for the wait staff will act as buffers and keep noise in specific areas.
